SisterVILLE-Community Program

image72

The SisterVILLE-Community Program empowers Tiny-Islanders with no-cost well water, space for community gardens, and a path to property ownership.

Challenges Addressed:

  • Fresh Water Access for Tiny-Islanders
  • Space to grow food sustainably
  • Opportunity for Tiny-Islanders

Water is Life. Access to Fresh Water is a critical development goal globally, yet it may be the most important challenge faced by Tiny-Islanders. With support from our locally-owned, tinyislandBIGHELP Host Resort partners, we develop a SisterVILLE-Community with the Tiny-Islanders. The SisterVILLE-Community located with easy boat access, road access, a fresh water source, room for a community garden and placement of Tiny-Islanders who would like to remain connected with family, yet have a improved access to water, land, services, food, and space. This program also works synergistically with our on-island trade education programs by providing access to job opportunities on land.

Our Methods:

  • Drill Fresh Water Wells on SisterVILLE-Community Farmsteads in partnership with locally owned Tiny-Island Resorts
  • Develop a community master plan including:
  • Operating plan for providing fresh water access to the Tiny-Islands
  • Sanitary facilities utilizing the SparkLETTE Toilet
  • Community garden plan and permaculture/aquaculture education program
  • An autonomous zone for Tiny-Islander living that is of significant size
  • An adjacent zone for plots that may be owned by Tiny-Islanders
